For those interested in a sleepier, more natural island rhythm, Carenero Island is a great choice. Most hotels are on the beach or over-the-water. Most of Bocas del Toro’s best seafood restaurants are here as well.
Carenero Island has lots of activities; some of the best beginner surf spots can be found here as well as the best surf on the islands. Carenero Point is one of the longest lefts in Bocas del Toro and can offer perfect tubes when conditions are working.
Standup Paddling is an unforgettable way to see the coral reef around Carenero. Rent an SUP from Bibi’s on the Beach and paddle around Carenero and see its colorful reefs filled with sea critters.
