Happy Hours in Bocas del Toro start generally around 5PM, you can find cocktail specials at over-the-water restaurants looking into the Bocas main, the triangle formed between Carenero, Bastimentos, and Solarte or at small bohemian bars with $1 shot specials.
Most bars play reggae but you find all sorts of music here. Barco Hundido is by far the most famous bar in Bocas del Toro and plays everything - reggae, salsa, merengue and soca. This is pretty much where everyone ends up at some point of the night, getting down on the dance floor or sitting on an old deck encircling a ‘wreck deck’, which is where the place got its name.
Other places worth mentioning are La Iguana Bar, an over-the-water disco with reggae on most nights; Aqua Lounge, an over-the-water bar with swings over natural pools and sea trampolines hosting some of Bocas del Toro’s most craziest parties; and Mondo Taitu, with early drink specials and hilarious theme nights - don’t be surprised if you see young backpackers dressed in 80s clothes walking down the street.
Bocas Wine Bar and the Bocas Book Store are quieter, less crowded places. Classic Rock, and more US style music can be heard here. At Toro Loco you can find sports on the TVs, games, and delicious food. Rip Tide also has good food served on an old fishing boat with some of the best views in town.
Every now again there are special events, such as beach parties, boat parties, etc. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates on these events.
