Slideshow: 6 Paradise Beaches in Bocas del Toro You Never Heard Of

For white-sand beaches and no crowds, head to one of these best kept secret beaches in Bocas del Toro.

Believe it or not there are more beaches in Bocas than just Starfish, Bluff or Wizard Beach. In fact, Bocas del Toro is an archipelago and it’s home to a wide variety of secluded beaches. If you’re looking to go somewhere different- the last remaining ‘hidden gems’, here are six paradise beaches around the Bocas islands you’ve probably never heard of…

Punta Vieja, Isla Bastimentos

Located just outside the Bastimentos National Marine Park, this beach doesn’t really offer much activities other than relaxing or paying a visit to the local Salt Creek village. The area around here does have the best diving in Bocas del Toro, try the Zapatillas’ Dive Club, which provides diving tours and accommodations all located on Punta Vieja.

Polo Beach, Isla Bastimentos

Polo Beach is easily accessible by boat when the waves are small. A few minutes past Red Frog you can find this beautiful beach known for its great diving and snorkeling. Just outside the palm lined beach is a series of reef caves that offer some fun and exciting diving. Contact local dive shops in Bocas and ask about the Polo Beach cave diving excursions. This also happens to be an awesome place for camping. Find local guides to take you there, they can set you up with camping gear and food. Playa de Uva, Peninsula Valiente, Kusapin

For white-sand beaches, salty breezes, freshly caught seafood, and no crowds, head to Kusapin. Hop on a sailing adventure to this indigenous comarca and explore the most secluded and unspoiled beaches in the archipelago. If you come here, you come here to see the local wildlife, paradisaical beaches, waterfalls and the local  Ngäbe-Buglé culture.

Playa Tortuga, Isla Bastimentos

Yes, Bastimentos Island once again! This island boasts what most consider the best beaches in Bocas del Toro. Turtle Beach is no exception. This small little white sand beach lays just outside the Red Frog Island Retreat villas. Stay in one of their luxurious villas, drive down to the beach in your golf cart and enjoy this beautiful beach all to yourself.

Hospital Point, Isla Solarte

You have probably seen this beach on your way to Bastimentos Island or from your hotel’s deck on Carenero. This point was once home to Bocas del Toro’s famous United Fruit Company hospital. Now it is a private residence and below there is a small white sand beach. If you have a few hours free and looking to escape the crowd but to somewhere close- try this beach! Hop on a boat and bring lunch and snorkeling gear. The snorkeling out front is one of our favorite. Feeling a bit more adventurous? Rent kayaks and paddle here from either Bastimentos or Carenero island.

Mimbitimbi Beach, Isla Colon

One of our favorites and most forgotten beaches on Isla Colon. Rent an ATV with Flying Pirates and take their trails to this beautiful beach. There is also a fresh water turquoise color river and a small islet that you can swim to just outside the beach. A truly magical place.
